I want to buy the 6 month subscription, but I'd like to have the game in english on north american servers. Is that possible to do?

Also, I've read a few articles and I'm wondering, am I tied to the subscription model after I use it for the first time (forced to reactivate the game every 6 months), or am I able to pay $60 for a standard copy after the first 6 months are over?

North American versions of the game are only launching in full priced retail boxes, or as full priced digital downloads. The subscription method you’re referring to (which is offered to provide an affordable option) is currently only being made available for Brazil and Russia. I do believe that a 'lifetime' subscription will be available for subscription based copies as well, though.

In any case there's something else worth keeping in mind: If you wish to play competitively, then it's best to play StarCraft II in the region in which you reside. If you should happen to qualify for a regional tournament, but do not actually reside in that region, then you'll be disqualified. So while there are ways and options to play in other regions, if you’re looking to push and play competitively then you should only do so in your region of residence. Of course this wouldn’t apply to things like invitationals which aren’t based on regional playoffs.

We’re looking into providing the option that would allow someone (if they’re interested) to add additional play regions to their StarCraft II account without having to purchase a additional full retail copies. And those are options we hope to have available soon after release. The region restrictions on tournament eligibility would remain in place, though.
